This recipe is divine! Top with your favorite frosting or homemade vanilla ice cream. They are great with the frosting, but I love them without.

Brownies Formula

Ingredients
  • 8 oz unsweetened chocolate
  • 2 1/2 sticks unsalted butter
  • 6 large eggs
  • 4 teaspoons Watkins vanilla extract
  • 3 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups WonderFlourâ„¢
  • 2 cups walnuts, in pieces (optional) I like to add the basil to the walnuts in a food processor and chop them together.
Instructions
  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Line a bar pan with foil or parchment paper, or grease the pan with butter.
  3. Melt the chocolate and butter in a microwave oven or in a saucepan over very low heat.
  4. Whisk the eggs, sugar, and vanilla together in a medium bowl.
  5. Add the melted chocolate mixture and whisk to combine (mixture will thicken considerably).
  6. Add all other ingredients and mix together with a rubber spatula or wooden spoon.
  7. The batter will be very thick and somewhat greasy-looking.
  8. Scrape batter into baking pan (the batter will hang together like a bread dough) and press into place with a large spatula.
  9. Bake about 50 minutes, or until a cake tester comes out clean when inserted into center.
  10. For chewier brownies, bake an additional 5 to 10 minutes.
  11. Let cool at least 2 hours in pan before icing, removing, cutting, and serving.
Buttercream Frosting

Ingredients
  • 1/2 pound butter
  • 1/4 cup or more heavy cream
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • Vanilla
  • Powdered sugar
Instructions
  1. Cream butter and cream cheese together.
  2. Add vanilla and heavy cream.
  3. Mix well and add powdered sugar until thick and creamy.
  4. You need it to be able to stand up and pipe out of a pastry bag.
  5. Top cooled brownies with frosting.
