Christmas Eggnog (cooked) |

- 1 cup sugar
- 2 Tablespoons water + ⅓ cup water
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 6 eggs
- 4 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- ½ teaspoon nutmeg
- Dash of salt
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 teaspoon hazelnut flavoring
- 2 Tablespoons powdered sugar
- Place sugar, 2 Tablespoons water, and lemon juice in a small sauce pan. Bring to a boil and cook until a golden brown. Remove from heat. Add ⅓ cup water and stir until smooth.
- Add vanilla, nutmeg, and salt. Still and chill.
- In a double broiler, whip together eggs and milk. Then, add the sugar mixture. Stir constantly until mixture reaches 160 degrees. Remove and pout into a chilled bowl.
- After mixture has chilled, whip together heavy whipping cream, hazelnut flavoring, and powdered sugar. Add them to the chilled mixture in an egg nog bowl.
