Ingredients
  • 8 oz unsweetened chocolate
  • 2½ sticks unsalted butter
  • 6 large eggs
  • 4 teaspoons Watkins vanilla extract
  • 3½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups WonderFlourâ„¢
  • 2 cups walnuts, in pieces (optional) I like to add the basil to the walnuts in a food processor and chop them together.
Instructions
  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Line a bar pan with foil or parchment paper, or grease the pan with butter.
  3. Melt the chocolate and butter in a microwave oven or in a saucepan over very low heat.
  4. Whisk the eggs, sugar, and vanilla together in a medium bowl.
  5. Add the melted chocolate mixture and whisk to combine (mixture will thicken considerably).
  6. Add all other ingredients and mix together with a rubber spatula or wooden spoon.
  7. The batter will be very thick and somewhat greasy-looking.
  8. Scrape batter into baking pan (the batter will hang together like a bread dough) and press into place with a large spatula.
  9. Bake about 50 minutes, or until a cake tester comes out clean when inserted into center.
  10. For chewier brownies, bake an additional 5 to 10 minutes.
  11. Let cool at least 2 hours in pan before icing, removing, cutting, and serving.
